It's here! The 150th Foot Stompin' Free Scottish Music Podcast has arrived. It just seems like yesterday since the 100th :-) As usual we've got a great selection of Scottish music for you. We start of with the brand new CD from fiddler Iain MacFarlane. It is called Gallop to Callop and the track is called The Gallop To Callop Fiddle Set! Next is Karen Matheson's latest Gaelic song CD - Urram and we follow it with a new release from Concerto Caledonia called Nathaniel Gow's Dance Band. Our latest Foot Stompin' Free Scottish Music Podcast is a podcast of two halves - new and old! We start off with the brand new release from Jarlath Henderson - Hearts Broken, Heads Turned and then play BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician Award 2015 winner Claire Hasting's new CD Between River and Railway. This is followed with another new release from the Paul McKenna Band. It's called Paths that Wind and the track is He Fades Away (written by Alistair Hulett). We then moved on to my celebration of the eighties! We start with William Jackson's Well Park Suite featuring piper Iain MacDonald and then Fergusson's Auld Reekie with The Birks of Invermay sung by Rod Paterson. The Foot Stompin' Podcast is back this month with a great set of new releases! We start of with Gura Mise Tha Fo Mhulad from innovator Rachel Newton's third album Here's My Heart Come Take It. Next up is Logan from Dallahan's new album Matter of Time. Reverie is Rant's second album and features their brand of chamber folk with 4 great fiddle players. Then we have the long awaited new release from world touring folk band Breabach. They sing a beautiful version of the old Capercaillie classic Coisich A' Rùin. Another long awaited album is next from Mairearad Green. It's called Summer Isles and is quite a departure from her last solo album Passing Places. We finish off the podcast with a new EP from accordion player Murray Willis. Murray was a finalist in the 2016 BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician Award. See you next time!

Here is our latest podcast featuring all new releases! First up we have Hamish Napier's Celtic Connections festival commission for four flutes. Then it is the very first winner of the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician Award in 2001 - Gillian Frame and her debut solo album. Congratulations Gillian! Then it's a beautiful song from Scots songwriter Blue Rose Code - he's got a gorgeous voice and we follow that with Scots and Irish musician Nuala Kennedy. Her new album is called Behave the Bravest. Our penultimate track is from German celtic band Cara featuring Scots singer Kim Edgar and we finish up with a non trad track from Gordy Duncan Jnr - the son of the late most influential pipers of all time Gordon Duncan.

Hello we're back!! It's been a busy time at Hands Up for Trad with the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards, Christmas etc but it's great to be playing some fab Scottish music for you. We start the podcast with the latest release from Blazin Fiddles - North. Then it's another new release from Sarah Hayes - Woven. We then have a tribute to the late great Andy M Stewart who sadly passed away this January. After that we are straight into a set of jigs from MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards Folk Band of the Year Diamh. We start of the podcast with new band Dosca who all hail from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Next up is a song from Jim Sutherland's Struileag project. It's called Oran a’ Khookaburra (The Song of the Kookaburra) and features many great Gaelic singers. We have another new release from clarsach player Rachel Hair Trio called Trì followed by Twelfth Day who also feature clarsach and fiddle. Next up is Stuart Cassells and Blown Away. It’s been a busy few weeks in Glasgow. The Commonwealth Games were a great success and the culture programme that ran alongside featured lots of Scottish traditional music. The latest Foot Stompin’ Podcast features music from Breabach’s James Duncan MacKenzie’s debute solo album. We then (Don’t Say) Money Doesn’t Matter from Barbara Dickson and Rab Noakes followed by the new release from Skipinnish Western Ocean. Next up is Manran’s Gary Innes with an older track from his album Shouts. Then it’s another new release from Kaela Rown called Menagerie and we finish up the podcast with a classic from the Old Blind Dogs - Bennachie.
